Summary:
Gnuaccounting suffers from a bug when run in Gnome 2 environments: Keyboard input is not passed to the embedded OpenOffice bean, i.e. one can not change documents, nor templates.
Status: Open
Technical details:
This might be related to Gnuaccounting itself, the „Nice Office Access“ library, the OpenOffice.org OfficeBean, or the SWT-AWT bridge used to embed the OfficeBean.
A workaround has been discussed in the Nice Office Access Forum vorgeschlagen.
This workaround does not seem to work in recent Ubuntu versions and seems to rather circumvent the problem.
Please also refer to the according bug in the Sourceforge-Bug tracking system.
Additional requirements:
- In case changes on gnuaccounting are required, an accordingly fixed version should be provided. Instructions on a Gnuaccounting SVN checkout can be found on the according Sourceforge-page. appLayer/configs.java and guiLayer/viewerWindow.java as well as GUILayer/designerWindow.java, newTransactionWizardPreview.java (all embedding OpenOffice.org Writer) and reportWizardShow.java (embedding OpenOffice.org Calc) might be affected.
- The changes must be available for Ubuntu x86 and Ubuntu x64 and at least in two recent of the three distributions Debian, OpenSuSE(+Gnome) or Fedora8(+Gnome)
- No additional KDE, libarts or Qt-libraries may be required for the solution
- Any change to a standard installation of the user's system or the users Openoffice.org installation, including installation of software packages and/or OpenOffice.org extensions, new or modified config- or other files, are subject to usegroup's approval.
Question and Answers:
- 2010-06-22: Is it possible that this is related to Openoffice.org issue 97007?
- Yes, this is possible.
